Women’s health changes through every stage of life — from trying to conceive, through pregnancy and recovery, to the everyday demands of stress, sleep, and feeling like yourself again. At Artemis Wellness Clinic in Richmond, BC, supportive, complementary care is built around where you are right now. This page is a starting point: it explains the areas of women’s wellness care we offer and links you to the detailed pages for each, so you can find the information that fits your situation.
Care guided by a women’s health focus
Much of this care is provided by Mandy Tam, R.Ac, a registered acupuncturist whose practice centres on fertility and women’s health. Mandy works with people navigating conception, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, hormonal and cycle-related concerns, and the stress that often comes alongside them. She speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese, so you can discuss sensitive and personal topics in the language you’re most comfortable using.
A note on what acupuncture can and cannot do: acupuncture and the other services here are supportive and complementary. They are not a replacement for medical fertility care, obstetric care, or treatment from your physician. There are no guarantees of pregnancy or any specific outcome, and individual responses vary. The most helpful approach is usually one where complementary care works alongside your medical team — not instead of it. You can learn more about Mandy’s background and approach on her practitioner page: Meet Mandy Tam, R.Ac.
Fertility & IVF support
For many people, the path to a family is longer or more complicated than expected. Acupuncture is sometimes chosen as a calming, supportive addition during this time — something to help you feel cared for while your medical team leads the clinical side. It does not treat the underlying medical causes of infertility and is not a substitute for assessment and treatment by a fertility specialist.
- Fertility acupuncture in Richmond, BC — An overview of how acupuncture may be used as supportive care while you’re trying to conceive, and what to realistically expect.
- Acupuncture for IVF support in Richmond, BC — How acupuncture can complement an IVF or assisted-reproduction cycle, coordinated around your clinic’s protocol.
- The fertility & IVF support patient journey — A walk-through of what a typical course of supportive care can look like, from first visit through your cycle.
If you have not yet seen a doctor or fertility specialist about difficulty conceiving, that is the right first step — complementary care works best as an addition to medical guidance, not a replacement for it.
Prenatal & postnatal care
Pregnancy and the months after birth ask a lot of the body. Gentle, appropriately adapted care can be a comforting part of looking after yourself during this season — always in coordination with your maternity care provider.
- Prenatal & postnatal massage and acupuncture in Richmond — Supportive massage and acupuncture options adapted for pregnancy and recovery after birth.
- Pelvic floor physiotherapy overview — Pelvic floor physiotherapy is offered at the clinic by our physiotherapy team for concerns such as pelvic floor weakness, discomfort, and postpartum recovery; this page explains what the care involves.
Always follow the guidance of your OB, midwife, or family doctor during pregnancy and postpartum, and let your practitioner know about your stage and any complications before any session.
Stress, sleep & everyday wellness
Hormonal shifts, fertility journeys, new parenthood, and busy careers can all take a toll on mood, sleep, and energy. Care for the nervous system is part of whole-person women’s wellness.
- Acupuncture for stress, anxiety & burnout in Richmond — A practical guide to how acupuncture may help with stress, tension, and sleep as supportive care, and when to seek additional help.
If you are experiencing persistent low mood, anxiety that interferes with daily life, or any thoughts of self-harm, please contact your physician or a mental-health professional promptly — these are medical concerns that deserve direct care.
Cosmetic & facial acupuncture
Some clients come to us for facial acupuncture as a gentle, relaxing form of self-care.

When to see a doctor — red flags
Complementary care supports wellbeing, but it does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Please contact your physician, OB, midwife, or seek urgent care for concerns such as:
- Difficulty conceiving — see a doctor or fertility specialist for proper assessment.
- Heavy, unusual, or unexpected vaginal bleeding, including bleeding during pregnancy.
- Severe abdominal or pelvic pain.
- Signs of infection, fever, or feeling generally unwell.
- During pregnancy: reduced fetal movement, severe headache, vision changes, or sudden swelling.
- Any new, severe, or rapidly worsening symptom.
When in doubt, your physician or maternity care provider should always be your first call. Complementary care at Artemis is meant to work alongside that medical care, never to replace it.
Frequently asked questions
Can acupuncture guarantee I’ll get pregnant? No. Acupuncture is supportive, complementary care and cannot guarantee pregnancy or any specific outcome. It does not treat the medical causes of infertility. Fertility assessment and treatment should be led by your physician or fertility specialist, and individual responses to supportive care vary.
Should I stop my medical fertility treatment if I try acupuncture? No. Acupuncture is intended to work alongside your medical care, not replace it. Please continue with your fertility specialist’s plan and let both teams know what you’re doing so your care stays coordinated.
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy? Care during pregnancy is adapted and approached cautiously. Always tell your practitioner that you’re pregnant and your stage, and follow your OB or midwife’s guidance. If you have any pregnancy complications, check with your maternity provider before booking.
Who provides the women’s health and fertility acupuncture? Much of this care is provided by Mandy Tam, R.Ac, a registered acupuncturist focused on fertility and women’s health, who works in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is provided by the clinic’s physiotherapy team.
